Portland-area families struggle to put food on the table during SNAP suspension
KATU is getting a firsthand look at how SNAP users are struggling to put food on the table due to the ongoing government shutdown.
Multiple families allowed KATU inside their home to show what it looks like to try and survive.
Alia Pollard waited with her teenage daughter for two hours before a food pantry in Gresham opened, something she is willing to do to avoid another day without food.
"I think the longest I've gone without was like four days,"
said Pollard.
