Jetstar Launches First International Route from Melbourne Avalon to Bali
Jetstar has announced its largest ever expansion at Melbourne Avalon Airport (AVV), introducing the airport’s first international service to Bali while reinstating flights to Adelaide and increasing frequencies to Brisbane. This move marks a significant milestone for both Jetstar and Avalon Airport, Melbourne’s second major air hub.
Expansion Plans and New Routes
The low-cost airline will begin operating five weekly round-trip flights between Melbourne Avalon and Bali Denpasar Airport (DPS) starting on March 23, 2026. The new service will be carried out using Jetstar’s Airbus A321LR aircraft, offering over 120,000 seats annually to one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations.
In addition to the Bali route, Jetstar will resume its Adelaide service and boost connections to Brisbane, providing more convenient travel choices and stimulating tourism growth across Victoria.
Economic and Tourism Impact
The expansion is expected to add more than 330,000 low-fare seats each year at Avalon, giving local travelers additional options and attracting international visitors to the region. For passengers from Melbourne, Geelong, the Surf Coast, and Bellarine Peninsula, the Bali service offers a direct route of just over six hours to the island’s beaches and cultural highlights.
