Downed power lines have led to a road closure and power outage Monday morning in Georgetown Township, Michigan.
The outage affected just over a thousand residents in the area around Bauer Road near 20th Avenue, including Jenison High School and Jenison Junior High School. The incident occurred around 4:14 a.m., according to deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO).
Bauer Road, between 20th Avenue and Lamplight Drive, remains closed while crews from Consumers Energy work on repairs.
Consumers Energy estimated the restoration of power around 10:45 a.m.
Lake effect snow is expected to intensify this afternoon and evening, causing rapidly changing road conditions and significantly reduced visibility.
