Apple Launching Budget MacBook in 2026
Apple is developing a more affordable Mac notebook, set to be released in the first half of 2026, according to Bloomberg.
The machine will cost "well under $1,000" and compete with affordable Windows machines and Chromebooks.
- Current lowest priced Mac notebook: MacBook Air, starting at $999
- Mac mini desktop machine: $599, but not portable and requires separate display and peripherals
While Apple has long had a more affordable "SE" version of the iPhone, Macs have always been more expensive, premium devices.
Cheaper PCs have seen success with students and those who only need web browsing and document creation capabilities.
The low-cost Mac could replace the entry-level iPad and keyboard combo as an affordable way to get a PC-capable Apple device.
