At the America Business Forum in Miami, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff announced that the Palestinian movement Hamas is prepared to relinquish its weapons to an international security force in the Gaza Strip.
“Hamas has always made it clear that it is ready to hand over its weapons,” Witkoff said, mentioning that this position was once conveyed even to Jared Kushner, advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to Witkoff, Washington is pressuring Israel to allow Hamas militants besieged in Rafah, southern Gaza, to leave the area. He expressed hope that the group will act on its promise.
“If it does, it will realize that the development plan we have for Gaza is truly extraordinary, much better than what was proposed in the past,” he added.
The proposed initiative features a large-scale employment program aimed at revitalizing the Gaza economy.
Steve Witkoff stated that Hamas is willing to surrender arms to an international force, highlighting Washington’s regional diplomacy and Gaza development goals.
