London Mayor Sadiq Khan has secured a lifelong seat as a member of the House of Lords. The UK Prime Minister announced the decision on July 16, 2026. It is part of a batch of two dozen new Lords named that day. He exits his elected mayor role for an appointed one in the Lords. The others named will also start duties in the Lords under the same list.
