Brantford Councillors Endorse Infrastructure Project

A multi-million plan to put water and waste water pipes underneath Highway 403 near the Oak Park Road interchange is "critically important" to Brantford's economic future, according to Mayor Kevin Davis.

The project involves land immediately north of Highway 403, including a former gravel pit, which is one of only a handful in southern Ontario ready for industrial development once pipes are in place.

"It's the kind of land that 20 years ago you would see an auto assembly plant on it,"

Davis said at a Nov 4 committee-of-the-whole meeting, highlighting the land's significance to the future of the community and southern Ontario.

Mayor Davis also noted that significant industrial development in southern Ontario could occur once the trade situation with the United States is resolved, making Brantford a prime candidate for investment.

Author's summary: Brantford endorses a crucial infrastructure project.
