VA Tech Glitch Halts GI Bill Payments to Thousands

Up to 75,000 GI Bill recipients have been left without their anticipated payments for school and housing due to an IT glitch at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The issue affects spouses or children of veterans who have died, are missing, or have a permanent and total service-connected disability, grouped under the VA's Chapter 35.

Turn the GI Bill hotline back on

According to Ashlynne Haycock-Lohmann, director of Government and Legislative Affairs for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, up to 75,000 claims may be unpaid.

The VA officials blame the delay largely on congressional Democrats, responsible for the government shutdown that began in October.
