UK Farmers Consider Quitting Due to Financial and Environmental Pressures

A recent survey by McCain Foods found that more than half of British farmers are considering leaving the industry due to mounting financial, environmental, and mental health pressures.

According to the inaugural McCain Farmdex report, 51% of farmers have thought about quitting, while 74% feel pessimistic about the future of British farming.

The survey highlights the human impact behind the statistics.

The study was conducted from July 14-18, 2025, and surveyed 200 farmers across livestock and arable sectors.
