A multi-generational ranch family from Polson has earned state and regional honors for their conservation practices.
The Montana Stockgrowers Association awarded G&G Livestock and 'Cathey Cattle Company' its annual Montana Environmental Stewardship Award.
The family also won the region's Environmental Stewardship Award from the National Cattlemen's Association, making them one of six regional winners.
In February, at Cattle Con 2026, one of those regional winners will take the national title.
The family's 7,000 acres of rolling grasslands in Irvine Flats are a testament to their conservation efforts.
NBC Montana recently visited the ranchers at G&G Livestock, witnessing a sunset spotlighting the open landscape of this secluded family ranch.
