New Haven Produce Farm Continues Tradition of Donating Pie Pumpkins

A local produce farm, Kurtz Produce, is giving back to the community by donating pie pumpkins to local food banks.

“It started with my grandpa, and now, through the generations, we’re continuing that trend,”

said David Kurtz, the farm's Operations Manager. This tradition began with Kurtz's grandfather and has been continued through the generations.

The farm held a Volunteer Gleaning Day, where volunteers picked pie pumpkins from the fields to be donated to Community Harvest Food Bank and other local pantries.

“It’s not just us, but it’s all of us, and so we’re continuing to support each other and lift each other up,”

Kurtz said, emphasizing the importance of community. He added that

“It really takes a community to work together, to thrive, and grow.”

Kurtz Produce's tradition is a heartwarming example of community support. Author's summary: Farm donates pumpkins to local food banks.
