Strong winds forced the abandonment of Race 1 in the SIXT Spring 18ft Skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour, impacting the 2025-26 sailing season.
The Australian 18 Footers League’s 2025-26 summer season began unfortunately due to strong westerly winds, gusting to more than 30 knots.
- Eleven of the fourteen teams attempted to reach the start in the harsh conditions.
- Only three teams were able to cross the start line after a 30-minute delay:

- Club Marine
Despite their efforts, it was clear that sailing the course was impossible, and the race officials quickly abandoned the race.
