UNISON General Secretary Christina McAnea welcomed members from the south west to UNISON Centre to celebrate a major campaigning victory against outsourcing.
Members from Dorset, working across three NHS trusts, prevented the introduction of a subco that would have affected 1,700 facilities staff, including porters, caterers, and housekeepers, by moving them out of direct NHS employment and changing their terms and conditions, including pensions.
“Every time we’ve seen a subco, we’ve launched a campaign against it – and this was no different,” said Christina McAnea. “Dorset’s victory is a brilliant example of how organising works.”
