GP Contract in Scotland for 2026/27-2028/29
The BMA's Scottish GP Committee and the Scottish Government have reached an agreement on a funding package for 2026-2029, which includes a £250m increase in recurrent funding to general practice by 2028/29.
This investment aims to provide stability and support to general practice, restoring a substantial amount of lost funding to practices in Scotland.
- The largest portion of the funding, £148.3m by year three, will be used to improve practice workforce.
- £40m will be used to introduce a system of direct reimbursement of certain non-staff expenses, reducing the risk to practices created by increasing costs.
This is not a pay deal, but a separate investment to provide much needed stability and support to General Practice.
