Denmark-based energy transition technology provider Topsoe has launched a solid oxide electrolyser cell manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 500MW.
The new site, located in Herning, Denmark, represents the company’s single biggest investment to date, supported by €94m from the EU Innovation Fund.
“Our SOEC facility will be a game-change for the energy transition,” said Roeland Baan, CEO of Topsoe.
According to the company, the facility will be able to service up to 10GW of installed capacity at customer sites after ten years, cutting CO2 emissions by 15 million metric tonnes compared to hydrogen from natural gas.
