With a major vote looming, the residency of Woodland Park's School Board members has been called into question. The four-member conservative bloc, which is not seeking re-election, plans to lease the district's middle school building to the Merit Academy Building Corporation for 30 years.
However, at least two members of the Board may be ineligible to cast their vote due to allegations that they have moved out of state. This has raised concerns about the legitimacy of the vote.
According to a Facebook post by Board member Keegan Barkley, the Board was not part of negotiating the lease, and first received the proposed agreement at 9:30 A.M.
The outgoing Board has been accused of showing favoritism to Merit Academy, the district's only charter school, for years.
