A major free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to arrive in January, along with a paid Switch 2 Edition upgrade.
Nintendo has announced that a free update will be released for all versions of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as well as a $4.99 Switch 2 Edition upgrade that will add features such as mouse controls and 12-player multiplayer.
The update and Switch 2 Edition will be available on January 15, 2026, along with a $64.99 digital and physical Switch 2 version.
The Resort Hotel will feature new tasks, clothes, and furniture, and players can earn tickets to spend on new cosmetics by decorating rooms for guests.
The Slumber Island will allow players to have up to three extra islands online, which can be worked on with other people.
