Library Board Decision on Challenged Book
The Oconee County Library Board voted to leave the book "My Rainbow" by Trinity and DeShanna Neal in the children's picture book section of the library.
The book, which tells the story of a mother and her transgender daughter, was challenged by Nicholas Bennett, who stated that his 5-year-old daughter "does not need to learn about transitioning genders at her age."

The Board first voted down a motion to move the book to the young adult nonfiction section, with a 3 to 5 vote. They then voted 5 to 2, with one abstention, to leave the book in its original place.
