October 2025 marks four years since a twister impacted two northeast Missouri communities.
On October 24, 2021, parts of northeast Linn and southeast Sullivan counties were under a tornado warning. The storm had estimated winds of 120 miles per hour, strong enough to toss several propane tanks and destroy structures at the LP Gas Plant, just south of Purdin.
The twister traveled northeast, causing widespread damage to barns and other structures near Winigan, with additional damage reported in Linneus. The tornado was rated an EF-2 by the National Weather Service.
