A state representative is stepping down, creating another vacancy in the General Assembly. Marcus Wiedower, a Republican from Watkinsville, announced his resignation after six years in the House.
According to Wiedower, his company's rapid growth will require more travel, taking him away from the Capitol during the legislative session. He stated:
While I’m stepping away from elected office, I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe.
Wiedower works for Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm. This resignation brings the total number of vacancies in the House and Senate to four.
