At this time of uncertainty, we extend our love, strength, and solidarity to all those in Jamaica and the wider Jamaican community here in the UK.
UNISON stands in solidarity with our comrades of Jamaican heritage, and with all those in Jamaica preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Melissa, now expected to make landfall as a Category 5 storm.
We recognise that many of our members will be deeply concerned for family, friends, and loved ones on the island. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, and we stand united in hope for their safety and protection.
UNISON’s national Black members chairs group is also exploring ways to support any relief or recovery efforts that may be needed in the aftermath of the storm.
We stand united in hope for their safety and protection.
This statement is part of UNISON's commitment to equality for Black members.
