State Rep. Marcus Wiedower Resigns
State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) has resigned from his seat, prompting a special election to find his replacement.
Wiedower, a four-term legislator, represented District 121, which includes most of Oconee County and parts of Clarke County.
“This decision has been incredibly difficult. Serving in the Georgia General Assembly has been one of the greatest honors of my life,”
He is leaving to focus on his role as vice president of external affairs at Hillpointe, a rapidly growing real estate business.
“I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe.”
A special election will be called to replace Wiedower.
