Councillor Garth Wilkinson of the People's National Party, Falmouth Division, has expressed concerns over the safety of individuals who may be housed at the Salt Marsh Primary School shelter as Hurricane Melissa approaches Jamaica.

The shelter, one of 42 designated across Trelawny, is located near a gully that is prone to flooding during heavy rainfall, posing a potential risk to those seeking refuge there.

A team of 68 shelter managers supports the shelters across Trelawny.

Councillor Garth Wilkinson is voicing concerns over the safety of individuals who may be housed at the shelter at Salt Marsh Primary School.
