Due to the early impact of Hurricane Melissa, 52 out of 74 shelters in Portland have been opened, housing 295 occupants.
On Sunday, several roads, including Cascade and Birnamwood in the Buff Bay Valley and Bellevue in the Rio Grande Valley, were blocked by landslides but were later cleared. A fallen tree and utility pole also blocked Sommers Lane in Port Antonio.
In the Manchioneal area, high waves and strong winds forced some residents to seek shelter at the Manchioneal Primary School.
Some areas, including Islington, Boston, Fairy Hill, and a section of Norwich Heights, are experiencing power outages.
