#EyeOnMelissa: Health centres remain closed, hospitals open - Jamaica Observer

Health Centres Closed Due to Hurricane Melissa

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has announced that health centres across Jamaica remain closed following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.

However, public hospitals will continue to operate. Primary care services have been suspended, and patients with scheduled appointments are advised to contact their health centre later in the week to reschedule.

Individuals with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and asthma, are reminded to stock up on medication and take it with them if they need to evacuate their homes.

They are also being urged to continue taking their medications as prescribed by their doctor while away from home.

Pregnant women nearing their delivery date are advised to relocate to family or friends near a hospital or delivery centre.
