Saudi Railway Company and Ericsson Partner on 5G Technology
The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ericsson to assess the potential of 5G technology in modernizing operations and improving passenger connectivity.

- Deployment of equipment for enhanced communication, train control, and safety
- Testing of use cases such as real-time video streaming, IoT connectivity, and high-speed passenger broadband
The initial deployment will cover one route to evaluate performance under real-world conditions.
Ericsson and SAR will establish a dedicated innovation centre to trial and validate 5G applications.
Training programs will be introduced to build local expertise and equip SAR's workforce to use advanced communications technologies.
