The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is expected to approach the Sun around October 29 and 30.
It will pass the Sun at a distance of roughly 1.4 au, barely inside Mars' orbit.
- Detected on July 1, 2025, by the ATLAS survey telescope in Chile.
- Originated outside of our solar system, according to NASA's CNEOS.
