'Song Sung Blue' Review

Craig Brewer's film is a winning pop nostalgia trip with a dark side. The term "faith-based movie" is often applied to PG-rated calamity-meets-redemption Sunday-school soap operas, but "Song Sung Blue" is a faith-based movie rooted in devotion to the church of Neil Diamond.
The movie is based on the true story of Mike and Claire Sarina (played by Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson), who formed a Neil Diamond tribute band, performing as Lightning & Thunder in the late '80s and '90s.
The idea that it should be applied just to PG-rated calamity-meets-redemption Sunday-school soap operas micro-targeted to Evangelicals.
At first, the movie may strike you as a parable of more kitsch than faith.
