The federal government shutdown continues with no end in sight.
Neither Republicans nor Democrats are backing down, as Republicans need 60 votes to advance a stop-gap bill to fund the government through late November, requiring Democratic support.
Most Senate Democrats refuse to support the stop-gap bill until they secure extensions for Affordable Care Act subsidies, warning that premiums could skyrocket if they aren't extended.
Republicans insist they will negotiate once the government is reopened.
