The government of President Javier Milei emerged victorious from Sunday’s legislative election, a crucial test for the two years remaining in his term.
La Libertad Avanza secured a broad nationwide victory with 40.84% of the vote, while the Peronist alliance came in second with 31.67%.
“How beautiful violet looks on the country,”
President Milei exclaimed, referring to his party’s color, and thanked his cabinet ministers and other officials one by one.
La Libertad Avanza even won Buenos Aires province, the Peronist stronghold, with a one-point lead and 97% of polling stations counted.
