Chronic Absenteeism in Mississippi on the Rise

The Mississippi Department of Education has released the 2024-25 Chronic Absenteeism Report, indicating a significant increase in chronic absenteeism rates.

According to the report, Mississippi's chronic absenteeism rate has risen to 27.6%, representing 120,408 students who missed important instructional time in the last school year, up from 24.4% in the 2023-24 school year.
