The Cubs scored five unanswered goals to spoil the debut of the Voodoos' new black third jersey.
The Greater Sudbury Cubs won 7-2 over the Powassan Voodoos in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Friday at the Powassan Sportsplex.
The Cubs’ Nolan Newton scored on a two-man advantage midway through the first period. Kaedyn Long made it 2-0 Cubs when he pulled up after taking a pass from Caden Dubreuil on the left side and ripped it upstairs at 19:55.
Powassan cut the deficit in half early in the second stanza thanks to Cayden Kowal, who neatly tipped in a left point shot by Ben Gisonni.
The Cubs banged in five unanswered goals to skate away with a 7-2 win.
