Mud Slide Leaves Vancouver Island's Holberg Stranded

A windstorm has cut off access to the small, remote community of Holberg on Vancouver Island's northern tip, leaving it without power.

A mudslide has closed Holberg Road, with reports of several other slides in the area. According to Dane Cameron, the Regional District of Mount Waddington's emergency program coordinator,

"The slide occurred on Northeast 60 Road at approximately the 14k mark,"
which is a Western Forest Products section of road.

BC Hydro and Western Forest Products are working to assess the situation and develop an action plan for debris removal.
