Headway Devon, a local charity based in Exeter, has partnered with Thompsons Solicitors, MAPS Benevolent Trust, and the Players of the Postcode Lottery to support individuals with brain injuries.
After a brain injury, people are often discharged home to their family without wider support, leaving them alone after months of hospitalization and rehabilitation with a team of clinicians.
You've spent months in hospital, in ICU, in rehabilitation with a team of clinicians around you and suddenly you're all alone.
Many individuals may not understand the extent of their brain injury and may be navigating a legal battle for compensation without guidance. Headway Devon currently works with around 100 people weekly, but there are many more who are discharged home without support and are unaware of the charity's services.
Thanks to the new partnership, Headway Devon can now provide support to individuals in the hospital, expanding their reach to those who need it most.
