Jared Moskowitz pushes bill to keep FEMA disaster funding going amid federal shutdown

Jared Moskowitz Pushes Bill to Maintain FEMA Disaster Funding

Jared Moskowitz has filed the Federal Emergency Management Continuity Act to ensure continuous funding for disaster payments during the federal shutdown.

“During a government shutdown, communities hit by disaster shouldn’t have to worry that the resources they’re counting on to recover will go undelivered,”

Moskowitz said, emphasizing that politics should not dictate the government's response to disasters. The legislation, co-filed with U.S. Representative Troy Carter, a Louisiana Democrat, would require FEMA to continue disbursing Disaster Relief Funding even without a budget resolution.
