NOAA releases 2025-26 winter outlook: What to expect in Indiana

NOAA Releases 2025-26 Winter Outlook for Indiana

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released its 2025-26 winter outlook, predicting above-average precipitation in Indiana.

According to the Climate Prediction Center, precipitation in Indiana is expected to be above average from December to February. However, this does not necessarily mean above-average snow, as precipitation also includes rain and mixed precipitation.

Temperatures are expected to have equal chances of being above or below average, with no strong signal either way.

NOAA's predictions have been more accurate than the Old Farmer's Almanac and Farmers' Almanac in the area, but still only correctly predicted 3 out of the last 5 winters in terms of precipitation in Indianapolis.

NOAA has definitely done better than the Old Farmer’s Almanac and Farmers’ Almanac winter predictions in our area.

Author's summary: NOAA predicts above-average precipitation in Indiana this winter.
