Berkshire County fire chief accused of not paying taxes on business

Berkshire County Fire Chief Accused of Tax Evasion

A Berkshire County fire chief, Michael D. Grillo, has been charged with 34 tax-related offenses in his home state.

According to reports from The Berkshire Eagle, Grillo, who owned companies providing landscaping and facilities management services in New England and New York, allegedly failed to pay $34,000 in sales and use taxes, as well as nearly $98,000 in payroll taxes.

Additionally, Grillo is accused of not filing state income taxes for three years. His attorney, Stuart Ratner, attributes these issues to clerical errors and does not believe Grillo will face jail time.
