The Gender & Women’s Studies Program will host their annual Genderations Luncheon on Friday, October 24, in HCIC 1011.
Kathryn Reetzke, a professor from the WKU History department, will give a presentation titled:
"Teaching Women and Agency in Ancient World History”
Her presentation will delve into the past, exploring the words of women who lived before modern conceptions of "feminism" and how they formed their own identities in ancient societies.
Prof. Reetzke will discuss primary sources she collected for teaching World History from the perspective of women, where restrictions, laws, and cultural norms often attempted to negate women's power.
The presentation will also include an activity working with sources and images of artifacts related to this project.
A free catered lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m.
