UK Leads Polar Climate Change Research as US Withdraws
The UK's flagship polar research vessel, RRS Sir David Attenborough, is set to embark on a journey to Antarctica to support various climate change-related science projects.
Operated by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), the vessel will aid in researching glacier melt, whale populations, and other topics, including "hunting underwater tsunamis".
"The saying goes 'what happens in Antarctica doesn't stay in Antarctica'",
said BAS oceanographer Peter Davis, expressing regret over the US withdrawal from scientific exploration in the region.
