PA Systems and Screens Hacked at Kelowna and Victoria Airports

On Tuesday, October 14, some flights at Kelowna and Victoria airports were delayed due to a cyber security incident.

The incident occurred between 5 p.m. and affected the public address systems and screens at both Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ), displaying pro-Hamas messages.

"The YLW team has successfully removed the unauthorized messaging," said the airport in a press release.

The messaging was reportedly displayed for about two minutes and included phrases such as "Free Palestine" and curses directed at the U.S.

The City of Kelowna stated that the incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.

The airport has restored its flight information display screens and is working to restore the PA system.
