Alex Bregman, Red Sox third baseman, has opted out of his contract and become a free agent after a bounce-back season, hitting .273 with 18 home runs.
Bregman was coming off a season where he hit just .260 and had signed a 3-year, $120 million contract late in February, which led to controversy as All-Star Rafael Devers was asked to move positions and declined, eventually being traded to San Francisco.
Despite a second half slump and a quad injury, the 31-year-old will have suitors in free agency, represented by his agent Scott Boras.
Bookies are already setting odds for his next team.
Bregman's decision to opt out of his contract comes after the team made the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
