Lawrence City Commissioners Approve $57.5M for Second Phase of Municipal Services Campus
Lawrence city commissioners approved a maximum price of $57.5 million for phase 2 of the Municipal Services and Operations campus, estimated to total $130.1 million.
The campus will combine divisions such as streets, water, stormwater, and solid waste into one location on the city's Farmland property.
“Staff, some of them here tonight, repeatedly have told me that this project will never happen, and I know the criticality of this project,”
said Melissa Sieben, director of MSO, emphasizing the city's need to deliver on its promise to staff members.
The second phase will include a large building for a central maintenance garage and solid waste operations.
