The final cruise ship of the season, Holland America's Noordam, made its inaugural visit to Nanaimo, bringing hundreds of passengers to the Harbour City on a rainy day.
The vessel, which is fully booked with 1,900 passengers and 800 crew members, stopped at the cruise ship terminal on its way from Alaska to Seattle, with additional stops in Prince Rupert and Victoria.
The captain said the cruise line is planning three visits to Nanaimo in 2026.
A ceremony was held in the crow's nest lounge to mark the occasion, where ship captain Marek Zoll presented Port of Nanaimo chairperson Donna Hais with a ship plaque, and Hais presented Zoll with Indigenous artwork.
Holland America cruise line has been operating for over 150 years, making this its first port call in Nanaimo.
