Utah GOP Launches Efforts to Overturn Voter-Approved Prop 4

The Utah Republican Party has launched efforts to undo a voter-approved initiative and a recently approved set of congressional maps.

In Salt Lake City, Utah GOP Chair Rob Axson filed a citizen initiative to repeal Proposition 4, which created an independent redistricting commission, and a referendum to overturn the new congressional map.

Utah voters “did not understand what they were signing up for” when approving Proposition 4

Proposition 4 passed narrowly with 50.34% of the vote, with 512,000 votes in favor and 505,000 against, establishing a seven-member independent commission to draw and recommend congressional and legislative maps.

The Utah GOP is seeking to repeal this measure and overturn the new congressional map passed by lawmakers.
