HMS Daring may be seen in local waters again next year, according to its new commanding officer, Commander Graeme Hazelwood.
Commander Hazelwood, a naval officer with almost two decades of experience, took control of the Type 45 destroyer vessel in July. He visited the island to reaffirm the vessel's commitment to the Bailiwick.
The ship last visited Guernsey in 2016 and has since undergone significant work. It is set to sail again next year, with a potential visit to Guernsey high on the list of priorities.
Everybody's really focused on making that happen
During his visit, Commander Hazelwood met with Lt-Governor Sir Richard Cripwell and Bailiff Sir Richard McMahon.
Author's summary: HMS Daring may return to Guernsey in 2026.
