Arkansas football notebook: Aggies OC Collin Klein familiar to Razorbacks | Whole Hog Sports

Arkansas Football Notebook

Arkansas and interim coach Bobby Petrino are familiar with Texas A&M's second-year offensive coordinator Collin Klein, a former Kansas State quarterback.

Klein was the Big 12 offensive player of the year in 2012, with 2,641 passing yards, 920 rushing yards, and 39 combined touchdowns. He finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting behind winner Johnny Manziel.

"I always thought he was a heck of a runner with the football,"

Petrino said. Klein led the Wildcats to a 29-16 loss to Petrino and the Razorbacks at the Cotton Bowl in 2011, rushing for 1,141 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Petrino noted that Klein was likely on the front end of quarterback designed runs as a player, making it tough to defend with an extra blocker.

Author's summary: Arkansas faces familiar foe Collin Klein.
