Sade Shofidiya, a Chicago native and former foster child, is an entrepreneur and researcher who played a key role in Savannah becoming a member of Bee City USA.
On a hot July morning, Shofidiya inspected four newly established honeybee hives at the Tatemville Neighborhood Center in Savannah.
“See, there’s a queen cell on this honey super,”
she said, pointing to a tiny wax structure on the comb, explaining that the location of the queen cell is crucial.
Shofidiya's work with honeybees is a testament to her dedication to the coastal community.
