Construction crews are now placing concrete on the bridge deck for the new westbound structure as part of the Brooks Bridge replacement project on Okaloosa Island.
The concrete will undergo a seven-day “wet cure” hydration process to reach maximum strength and durability. This process involves spraying water lightly over the surface and laying a wet, saturated fabric on top to keep it consistently moist.
The Florida Department of Transportation is overseeing the project.
