The Writers Guild of America East urged its members not to immediately respond to a memo requested by editor-in-chief Bari Weiss.
The union, which represents a portion of CBS News staffers, wants to gather more information on the purpose of the memo before responding.
“Please be blunt — it will help me greatly,”
Weiss wrote in the email, asking staffers to submit a memo by Tuesday outlining their working hours and accomplishments.
The goal of the email, according to Weiss, is to get staff views on “what’s working; what’s broken or substandard; and how we can be better”.
Weiss took over CBS News on Monday after David Ellison’s Paramount completed its $150 million acquisition of The Free Press, Weiss’ “anti-woke” news operation.
