The Nebraska International Port of the Plains Board of Directors addressed key developments on Tuesday to enhance the port's operational capabilities and economic impact for the region.
The board is working on securing necessary insurance coverage, a critical step towards enabling the railroad to open a vital switch that would allow rail cars and traffic from the inland port to directly access main rail lines.
A Memorandum of Agreement was formalized with Grit Group to operate at the Hershey Rail Park, assisting Grit Group with financial endeavors.
"In my opinion, this is something we need to get done so he can move forward in his part of providing service to us," said Board Chairman Jim Hawks.
